Q: When I enter a UK postcode it is sometimes off?
A: The postcode accuracy for UK addresses is dictated by the Google this program uses. Until they give it more precision there is nothing I can do.
Q: Why can't my city/town/region be found?
A: The tool is at the mercy of what the Google maps API can return. Occasionally places that you'd expect to be in there aren't, like Manchester. If this is a big enough problem I'll have to find a workaround. (In the case of Manchester, you can enter Greater Manchester and it will work).
Q: When you generate a link for a route are you storing information about me?
A: No, the system simply generates a short string of letters and numbers as a key to be able to come back to that request. If two people were to ask for the same route with the same mpg and cost information they would both get the same link.
Q: Can I see a history of my routes and retrieve them?
A: Currently no. I am working on a way that people will be able to log in and store their own personal routes to go back to.
Q: Where did you get the car data from?
A: The european model database comes from which goes back to 2000.
Q: Why is my car not listed?
A: Simply put, because it is not in any database I could lay my hands on.
Q: Why are there no American, Chinese, Russian etc cars listed?
A: Because I have not been able to find any freely available databases to get hold of this data.
Q: What about motorcycles/vans/trucks?
A: If I can get hold of vehicle data for these then they can ged added.
